Michigan earned its second runner-up team finish of the fall season at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate. The Wolverines were also runner-up at the Shootout at the Legends (Oct. 4-5).
Michigan finished the fall season with two team titles -- Lady Northern Invitational (Sept. 11-12) and Mary Fossum Invitational (Sept. 18-19) C and with two runner-up titles in five total tournaments.
Michigan's second round one-over 289 at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate was a season-best team single round tally. The prior best was a three-over 291 in the second round of the Lady Northern Invitational at U-M Golf Course.
Michigan's 289 second round total was the top team tally of the entire Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate field.
After recording a season-best 289 in the second round and a 296 in the final round of the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate, the Wolverines had 5-of-15 team rounds below 300. For the fall season, the Maize and Blue averaged 301.40 per round.
Ali Stinson led the Wolverines for the first time in her career with her tie for third at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate. Her previous best finish was a fifth place finish to open the season at the Lady Northern Invitational (Sept. 11-12) at the U-M Golf Course.
Ali Stinson recorded the first two rounds of her career under par with a career-best two-under 70 in the second round and then a one-under 71 in the final round at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate. Stinson's previous best single round tally was a one-over 73 in the first round of the Lady Northern Invitational (Sept. 11-12).
Ali Stinson smashed her career-best 54-hole tournament total with a even-par 216 at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate. Her prior best was a five-over 221 at the Lady Northern Invitational (Sept. 11-12).
In five tournaments this season, Brianna Broderick has finished in the top 10 of each tournament. She won the Mary Fossum Invitational (Sept. 18-19), tied for fourth at the Shootout at the Legends (Oct. 4-5), tied for fifth at Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate (Nov. 1-2), was seventh at the Lady Razorback Invitational (Oct. 17-19) and tied for eighth at the Lady Northern Invitational (Sept. 11-12).
Not only did Brianna Broderick finish the fall season with five straight top 10 finishes, but she tied the U-M record along the way. Former Wolverine Kim Benedict (2000-03) also started her junior season (2001-02) earning five straight top 10 finishes. Benedict was second at the Lady Northern Invitational (Sept. 21-23), tied for third at the Wolverine Invitational (Oct. 6-7), medalist at the Shootout at the Legends (Oct. 8-9), tied for fourth at the Hatter Fall Classic (Oct. 19-21) and then started the spring season with a seventh place showing at the Lady Aztec Invitational (Feb. 18-19).
Brianna Broderick lowered her career-best 54-hole tournament total with a one-over 217 at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate. Her prior best tally was a three-over 219 total at the Mary Fossum Invitational (Sept. 18-19), which was her first career medalist finish.
Brianna Broderick finished the fall season leading the Wolverines in three of five tournaments. Laura Olin led in two and Ali Stinson led one.
In 15 total rounds this fall season, Brianna Broderick has yet to card a single round above 78. She had a career-best one-under 71 in the second round of the Lady Northern Invitational (Sept. 11).
Isabelle Gendreau tied a career-best single-round tally with an even-par 72 in the second round of the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate. She set the career-best with a even-par 72 in the final round of the Lady Northern Invitational (Sept. 11-12).
Amy Schmucker's 228 54-hole total at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate marked back-to-back tournaments recording a season best tournament tally. Two weeks ago she had a 228 total at the Lady Razorback Invitational.
Ali Stinson and Isabelle Gendreau recorded 10 birdies during the tournament, while Brianna Broderick had nine. U-M was third with 40 total birdies. Stinson also recorded an eagle. Michigan led the tournament in par five scoring with a seven-under 4.91 hole average.
Laura Olin extended her consecutive tournament streak to 43 by playing at the 2004 Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate. She has not missed a tournament in her three seasons. Amy Schmucker sits at 29 straight tournaments, while Brianna Broderick and Ali Stinson have played in 17 straight tournaments for the Maize and Blue. Former Wolverine Kim Benedict (2000-03) holds the U-M record, playing in all 49 tournaments during her four-year career.
