Peretz Second in Big Ten Singles Consolation Bracket

MADISON, Wis. -- Sophomore Steve Peretz (Brooklyn, N.Y./The Dwight School) of the University of Michigan men's tennis team reeled off four straight consolation victories at the Big Ten Conference Singles Championship before falling in the finals of the 32-player bracket Monday afternoon (Nov. 15) at Nielsen Tennis Stadium. Peretz finished the tournament with a 4-2 record.
Peretz reached the consolation championship with a 6-2, 6-3 decision over Indiana's John Stone in the morning semifinal match. Peretz captured the first set 7-6(6) in his finals match-up with No. 68-ranked Pramod Dabir of Illinois, but Dabir rebounded to take the next two frames 6-2, 6-2 to claim the title. Peretz finished the fall season with a record of 6-4.
The Wolverines will open the 2005 dual match season by hosting Western Michigan on Saturday, Jan. 15. Action will begin at 2 p.m. at the Varsity Tennis Center.
