PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- Senior Tom Greenless (Milford, Mich./Milford HS), a member of the University of Michigan men's cross country team, was named Big Ten Conference Athlete of the Week following his first-place performance at the Spartan Invitational on Sept. 19 in East Lansing, Mich. The distinction is the first career weekly honor for Greenless.

Greenless collected his second individual title of season, leading the 132-man field through the 8,000-meter course and across the finish line with a career-best time of 24:35.1. The Wolverine runner finished over 10 seconds quicker than runner-up Brian Olinger of Ohio State (24:45.7).

The Wolverines will return to action at 3:40 p.m. on Friday (Sept. 26) at the Great American Cross Country Festival in Cary, N.C.
