DaCosta Reaches Semis at ITA Summer Championships

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Junior Michelle DaCosta (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne HS) of the University of Michigan women's tennis team upset top-seeded Kendra Strohm of Texas (6-1, 6-3) to advance to the semifinal round at the 2003 ITA National Summer Championships before being eliminated herself with a loss to Vanderbilt's Amanda Fish in the tiebreaker (1-6, 7-6 (6-10)) on Tuesday (Aug. 12).

Sponsored by the U.S. Tennis Association, the ITA National Summer Championships are the finale of the ITA Collegiate Summer Circuit, which features 20 qualifying dates played at regional sites throughout the month of July.
