DaCosta Named All-Big Ten for Second Straight Season

PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- University of Michigan sophomore Michelle DaCosta (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne HS) has been named to the All-Big Ten Conference women's tennis team announced today (Thursday, May 1) by the conference office. This is the second straight season that DaCosta has earned a spot on the All-Conference squad.

DaCosta has played at the No. 1 singles and doubles slot for the Wolverines the past two seasons. She has set career highs in overall wins (18-14), dual match victories (12-9) and conference wins (8-3) in singles action this season. DaCosta has claimed wins in six of her last seven singles matches and nine of her last 10 contests.
In doubles, she has teamed with classmate Leanne Rutherford (Calgary, Alberta/National Sports School) to compile a 17-16 overall doubles record and a 10-12 dual match mark at No. 1 this season.
Michigan's season continues next weekend at the 2003 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championship. The Wolverines face Colorado Friday (May 9, 10 a.m. PDT) in first-round action at Stanford University's Taube Family Tennis Center in Palo Alto, Calif.
