With a power-play goal tonight against Nebraska-Omaha, Michigan snapped a seven-game scoreless streak with a man advantage. During the streak, U-M was held scoreless in 29 power-play tries. Overall, Michigan is 20-for-104 (.192) with a man advantage this season.
Michigan is now 0-1-1 in overtime games this season.
Eric Nystrom tied a career high with two goals in the game against Nebraska-Omaha. Nystrom has had two goals six times in his career, most recently against Ohio State on March 7, 2003.
Nystrom's two tallies in the second period tied a U-M season high for goals in a period by one individual, joining teammates Brandon Kaleniecki (3rd period vs. Quinnipiac, Oct. 17), Jeff Tambellini (2nd period vs. Quinnipiac, Oct. 18) and T.J. Hensick (2nd period at Ferris State, Nov. 7).
Nystrom is the fifth Wolverine to have a multi-goal game this season, joining Brandon Kaleniecki, Jeff Tambellini, T.J. Hensick and Andrew Ebbett.
Nystrom has scored in three of the last four contests, posting a line of 3-1-4 in those games.
Andrew Ebbett had two assists tonight against Nebraska-Omaha, marking the seventh multi-point game of his career. Five of those contests have come this season, which ties Jeff Tambellini for the team lead.
Ebbett had his first point in five games with an assist on Eric Nystrom's second goal.
Nick Martens tied personal game highs in points and assists with two helpers against the Mavericks. Martens' only prior multi-point outing came Jan. 5, 2003, when he had two assists against Miami (Ohio).
Milan Gajic scored his first goal away from Yost Ice Arena since Jan. 14, 2002, at Lake Superior. All 11 of Gajic's goals in 2002-03 and his two previous tallies this season have come at Yost.
With two goals tonight, Nebraska-Omaha's Mike Lefley is the first individual to have a multi-goal game against the Wolverines since Oct. 10, when Miami (Ohio) forward Derek Edwardson notched a hat trick.
