McGuire was named Coach of the Year for the fifth time in his 12-year Michigan career after his Wolverines won their fifth conference title and second in as many years. McGuire guided five of his harriers to finishes in the top 15, resulting in a winning team score of 31, the lowest by a conference champion since 1999. Michigan's 31 points were 26 points better than runner-up and meet host Michigan State's 57-point total. McGuire earned three consecutive conference honors as he led the Maize and Blue the conference championships from 1992-94.
The Wolverines have a week off from competition before they travel to Terre Haute, Ind., to try and earn an automatic berth in the NCAA Championships with a top-two finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships on Saturday, Nov. 15.
