Vorrasi Inks Letter with Michigan in Early Signing Period

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's gymnastics head coach Kurt Golder announced today (Tuesday, Nov. 25) that Eric Vorrasi (Sutton, Mass./Holy Name HS) signed a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period (Nov. 12-19) to attend and compete in gymnastics at the University next fall.
"We see a lot of potential in Eric," said Golder, "particularly on pommel horse where we feel he can make a huge contribution as a freshman."
Vorrasi currently trains at Tim Daggett's Gold Medal Gymnastics in Agawam, Mass. He competes as a Junior Elite 1 and qualified for the U.S. Championships in both 2002 and 2003, winning a silver medal on the still rings in 2002. Vorrasi was also a Junior National Team member in 1999 and 2000 and added a Junior Olympic pommel horse title in 2000 to his list of achievements.
In addition to his athletic accomplishments, Vorrasi has been stellar in the classroom. The high school senior is a three-time Academic All-American and is a member of National Honor Society.
Michigan opens the 2003-04 season with the Maize and Blue Intrasquad exhibition on Saturday, Dec. 13, at Cliff Keen Arena. The meet will begin at 7 p.m.
