ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- For the second consecutive season the University of Michigan men's soccer team trio of Knox Cameron (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman HS), Mychal Turpin (Pontiac, Mich./University of Detroit Jesuit) and Kevin Taylor (Miami, Fla./Gulliver Preparatory) earned NSCAA Division I All-Great Lakes Region honors. Cameron garnered second-team honors, while Turpin and Taylor were selected to the third team.

Cameron did not play in the Wolverines' final five games of the season, as he was selected to play with the United States Under-20 Men's National Team at the CONCACAF Group B qualifying tournament in Charleston, S.C. He helped the U-20 squad to a 2-1 record and an automatic birth to the FIFA World Youth Championship, which will be held March 25 to April 16, 2003, in the United Arab Emirates.
Turpin, a sophomore forward, tied Mike White (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson HS) for the Michigan single-season scoring lead with 25 points this season on 10 goals and five assists. Turpin tallied the program's first career hat trick with three consecutive tallies in the first half of Michigan's 8-0 win over IUPUI. In conference play Turpin tallied at least one point in all but one of the Wolverines' six games, including a pair of game-winning assists at Wisconsin (Oct. 20) and in overtime against Ohio State (Nov. 3).
The program's career scoring leader among defenders, Taylor started 20 of Michigan's 21 games this season and totaled three points on three assists. An All-Big Ten second-team honoree, Taylor was the on-field defensive leader and helped the Wolverines advance to their first Big Ten Championship final game with two 1-0 shutout victories over Northwestern (Nov. 14) and Michigan State (Nov. 15).
Michigan finished the season with a program-best record of 11-7-1, including a pair of postseason wins at the Big Ten Championship. The Wolverines ended the 2002 regular season as one of the Big Ten's most dominant offenses, as the Maize and Blue totaled 128 points on 42 goals and 44 assists, all conference bests.
