Robinson earned the weekly award for his overtime game-winning goal against the Buckeyes last Sunday (Nov. 3), which assured the Wolverines (8-6-1, 3-3 Big Ten) a share of second place in the conference heading into the Big Ten Tournament (Nov. 14-17). Robinson netted the game-winner when he cut in front of the goalkeeper just inside the Buckeye penalty area and flipped the ball over his outstretched hand for a 1-0 victory.
Leading the defensive effort for the Wolverines, Dzubay improved his record to 5-1-0 on the season, including three straight conference wins. The freshman was forced to make three saves against the Buckeyes en route to his second career shutout. Dzubay blanked Bowling Green State (Oct. 9) with two saves for his first career clean slate.
In nine appearances this season, Dzubay has converted 27 of 33 save opportunities for a save percentage of .818. In 636:24 minutes of action he has a 0.85 goals-against average and the pair of shutouts. With the 97:53 minutes of scoreless action against the Buckeyes, Dzubay has held conference opponents off the scoreboard for 187:55 consecutive minutes.
Dzubay's second straight selection as the Big Ten Athlete of the Week marks the fourth time in the program's three-year existence a U-M goalkeeper has won the award. Last year keepers Joe Zawacki (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson HS) and Bryan Lau (2001) earned the award for the weeks ending Sept. 24 and Nov. 5, respectively.
Robinson's selection marks only the second time a Michigan offensive player has garnered the Athlete of the Week award, as sophomore Knox Cameron (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman HS) received the honor Sept. 9 of this year.
The Wolverines close out the regular season with a pair of non-conference matches this week, as they travel to Detroit, Mich., Tuesday (Nov. 5) for a 3 p.m. kickoff against Detroit on Titan Field and host Oakland on Saturday (Nov. 9) at 1 p.m. on the U-M Soccer Field.
