Kent State led from start to finish as the Golden Flashes took home the team trophy after tallying rounds of 301, 288 and 299 for an 888 total. Runner-up Missouri (298-297-300) was the seven strokes behind Kent with an 895 total and Indiana (298-294-305/897) was third. The Hoosiers' Karen Dennison also led from start to finish and captured medalist honors by four strokes after her four-under 212 total (68-70-74). Wisconsin's Malinda Johnson vaulted into second place after firing a tournament-low 66 in the final round to give her a 216 total (74-76-66).
The Wolverines are off for just under two weeks before they close out the fall season with a trip to Knoxville, Tenn., Friday through Sunday (Oct. 18-20) for the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships. The 54-hole tournament will be played at the Gettysvue Polo and Country Club.

Q U O T E S
Head Coach Kathy Teichert
On Wolverines' performance at the Legends ... "Overall I was pleased with our performance. We had a pretty consistent tournament. No, I shouldn't say pretty consistent -- it was consistent. Laura Olin had yet another good tournament for us. She is just playing solid golf right now. Kim Benedict slipped a little in the final round, but overall she was right in the thick of things. Amy Schmucker came back for us and Sarah Kruer is still playing really well. I just think it is a shot here and a shot there that kind of catches up to us. We are improving each day, and as we keep going I think we will get right back to the top of these tournaments -- tournaments in which we feel we should be at the top of."
On Laura Olin's play ... "She really worked hard on her short game during the course of the summer and I think it really has paid off. She's really stepping up into a leadership role. She wants to be very competitive and yet she's a really nice player to watch. She's always smiling, always talking, she's like a breath of fresh air. I think she has a great attitude and that is always taken to the course. She doesn't get negative, she keeps her head up and when the going gets tough, the tough get going, and that is Laura."
Sophomore Laura Olin
On the Wolverines' performance at the Legends ... "It was a pretty good tournament. Coming into this tournament we had big expectations since we had won the tournament a year prior, but it just didn't all come together. But still, it was a good tournament. I think people picked their games up when other people didn't perform well. The first round we kind of struggled but after that we shot 299 and 301 and that was great. Those were some of our best scores of the season. We're just really close to shooting really, really well."
On her play so far this season ... "Even though I am playing well right now, I am so close to playing really, really well. I guess I am still waiting to go low and that has been real frustrating for me. So far the consistency for me is all summer long all I did was work on my short game. It was like, short game, short game, short game and that has helped me get scores in the 74s and 75s rather than 78s or 79s. I'm just not making those short-game mistakes."
Senior Kim Benedict
On the tournament ... "I thought we played well. I just didn't. I felt awful because I'm shooting 43 on the front nine and I think that I have to shoot real low just in case someone doesn't play well and I come in and I realize I don't have to count and that makes me feel really good. When I'm not playing really well, it is a good feeling when other people step it up. That is what I think we need to do. When someone isn't having a good day there definitely has to be someone else there to pick up the slack. That is what is going to make our team score great. We need to get some of the higher scores down, which we all know we need to do. We haven't had any rounds of 68 so we know that we are going to have some of those higher counting scores go down. I think everyone knows we have to do that and we know we have to do it on a consistent basis and that is the hardest part. Even though we played well, we are one step closer to really putting it all together."
