PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- University of Michigan women's diver Tealin Kelemen (Riverton, N.J./Moorestown Friends School) has been named the Big Ten Conference Diver of the Week for the week ending Oct. 27, the league office announced yesterday (Tuesday, Oct. 29).
Kelemen, a junior, earned NCAA zone qualifying scores in both the one- and three-meter events in the Wolverines' first meet of the season, against No. 5 Florida (Oct. 24). With her first-place mark of 325.65 in the three-meter springboard, Keleman earned the first event win of new head diving coach Chris Bergre's Michigan career. In the one-meter competition, Kelemen scored 261.97.
Kelemen, who trained under Bergre before she joined the Wolverines with his L'Air Bergre Diving Club, is the first diver to be honored by the Big Ten this season. She has earned three previous Athlete of the Week awards in her Maize and Blue career.
The Wolverines will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C., for a tri-meet against Harvard and host North Carolina this weekend (Nov. 1-2). The two-day competition will kick off on Friday (Nov. 1) at 6 p.m., with the second day beginning at noon.
