Diaz-Luong Wins Horizontal Bar at U.S Championships

Diaz-Luong captured the horizontal bar championship with a score of 9.300. He also finished fourth in the all-around (51.825) and captured seventh place on the parallel bars (8.850).
Junior Kris Zimmerman (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier HS) finished in sixth place in the all-around (51.800). Contributing to his all-around finish was a second-place effort on the horizontal bar (9.225) and a fourth-place finish on the floor exercise (8.825).
Senior Scott Vetere (Pennsburg, Pa./Quakertown HS) captured 11th place in the all-around with a 51.30. He also finished in a tie for second on the pommel horse (9.050) and in fifth place on the still rings (8.950).
The fourth Wolverine competing was senior Justin Toman (Wallingford, Conn./Lyman Hall HS), who only competed on the vault (8.850) due to an injury suffered early in the year.
These four Wolverines will continue their quest to qualify for the National Team on Friday (Aug. 10) in the final round of the U.S. Championships at 7 p.m.
