ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan men's gymnastics team member Scott Vetere (Pennsburg, Pa./Quakertown HS) has been selected to represent the United States at the 2001 World University Games. The U-M junior, one of five individuals selected, will travel to Beijing, China, to compete on August 23-26.
Vetere earned four All-American honors at the 2001 NCAA Championships, helping the Wolverines to a fourth-place finish. He was runner-up on the still rings and also finished in the top six on the parallel bars, horizontal bar and the all-around. Those four awards helped to make him an eight-time All-American.
