The boat was coxed by Helen Dalis (Augusta, Ga./Davidson Fine Arts), stroked by Kate Johnson (Portland, Ore./Jesuit HS), and featured Laurel Donnell-Fink (Lansing, Mich./Okemos HS), Alison Hickey (Scituate, Mass./Noble and Greenough), Jenny Bryant (Wainfleet, Ontario/Lakeshore Catholic), Christina Meyer (Saline, Mich./Saline HS), Bernadette Marten (Fortville, Ind./Cathedral HS), Tamera McBratney (Brockville, Ontario/Brockville Collegiate) and Kate Maxim (St. Helena Island, S.C./Langley HS) from the seven seat to the bow.
In the first two regattas this spring, the Wolverines have won 11 of 12 races and have posted some of the best times in the program's history both in races and at practice.
Despite the win, Michigan fell to fifth in the latest USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association poll (April 11). The drop was caused by then-No. 9 Southern California's upset over then-No. 2 Washington at the San Diego Crew Classic last Saturday. The Trojans jumped to No. 2 with six first-place votes with the win, while Washington fell to No. 3 this week. Brown remained No. 1 for the second consecutive week with 19 first-place votes.
Michigan takes on second-ranked Southern Cal on Saturday (April 7) at the Buckeye Invitational on the Scioto River in Columbus, Ohio. Racing begins at 9 a.m.
