Vetere Earns Fourth Career Big Ten Weekly Award

Vetere helped No. 3-ranked Michigan to a season-high score of 216.550 in victories over Oklahoma (215.750) and Massachusetts (202.350), earning first-place individual honors on the pommel horse (9.450), still rings (9.650) and parallel bars (9.250) en route to the all-around title with a 54.600.
An integral part of the Michigan team, Vetere currently is ranked among the top 10 gymnastics in the nation on the pommel horse (third), parallel bars (fourth), still rings (fifth) and high bar (sixth). Michigan's 2000 co-Male Athlete of the Year has already received 11 first-place titles.
This marks the fourth time Vetere has received this prestigious honor in his Michigan career. He garnered Big Ten Athlete of the Week honors in consecutive weeks last year (March 9, March 16) en route to being named the 2000 Big Ten Gymnast of the Year. This season, Vetere has already collected one Big Ten award (Jan. 31).
Vetere and the Wolverines will travel to Minneapolis, Minn., on Saturday (Feb. 24) to face No. 8 University of Minnesota in the Sports Pavilion. The 1 p.m. CST meet will mark the first dual meet between the two teams since 1998.
