CCHA Issues Two-Game Suspension to U-M's Rogers

Rogers receives the suspension following a request for review by Miami (Ohio) head coach Enrico Blasi of a play from Michigan's 3-2 overtime win last Friday (Dec. 7) in Oxford, Ohio. During the reviewed play, which occurred during the second period, Rogers was involved in an altercation with RedHawks forward Greg Hogeboom. He was not called for a penalty at the time.
According to a judgment issued by the CCHA office, Rogers will serve his suspension in Michigan's next two regular-season games -- vs. Harvard on Saturday (Dec. 15) and vs. North Dakota in the semifinals of the 37th Annual Great Lakes Invitational on Dec. 28.
The Wolverines, already missing junior forward Mike Cammalleri (Richmond Hill, Ontario) for Saturday's game while he attends Team Canada's selection camp for the World Junior Championships, will be without up to four players for the matchup with the Fighting Sioux in the GLI. Sophomore defenseman Mike Komisarek (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) and freshman forward Dwight Helminen (Brighton, Mich.) will be skating with the United States as part of the World Junior Championships in the Czech Republic, while Cammalleri will find out on Monday (Dec. 17) if he is making the trip with the Canadians.
Michigan (10-5-2, 8-3-2 CCHA), ranked ninth in the latest USA Today/American Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll and one of college hockey's hottest teams with an 8-1-1 mark in its last 10 games, concludes the first half of the 2001-02 campaign this weekend, hosting Harvard (5-4-2, 5-2-2 ECAC) in a single non-conference game on Saturday (Dec. 15). Opening faceoff is slated for 7:35 p.m. at Yost Ice Arena.
