Foote, a Butkus, Lombardi and Nagurski awards candidate, leads the Wolverines with 51 tackles this season (36 solo), and 21 of his stops have been behind the line of scrimmage (for 71 yards). He has recorded four quarterback sacks (23 yards), three pass breakups and one forced fumble. He is Michigan's active career leader in tackles with 181 and in tackles for loss with 39 (for 131 yards).
Foote's seven tackles for loss at Iowa broke the mark of six he shared with Mark Messner (vs. Northwestern in 1987) and Will Carr (vs. Minnesota in 1995). Foote tied the record with six at Washington earlier this season. Foote is just five TFLs shy of the single-season Wolverine record of 26 set by Messner in 1988.
The Wolverines (6-1, 4-0 Big Ten) are ranked sixth in both the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today polls and play at Michigan State (4-2, 2-2 Big Ten) this Saturday, Nov. 3, at 3:30 p.m. EST on ABC Sports.
