Zimmerman Captures Bronze at Pan Am Championships

CANCUN, Mexico -- Junior Kris Zimmerman (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier HS), senior Daniel Diaz-Luong (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt HS) and head coach Kurt Golder represented the University of Michigan men's gymnastics program and the United States at the Pan American Gymnastics Union Senior Championships during the week of Oct. 2-6.
The group helped lead Team USA to a silver medal in the team competition, and Zimmerman captured the bronze medal on the parallel bars with a score of 9.050. He also finished 12th in the all-around (51.150).
Diaz-Luong scored a 8.775 on the parallel bars to take home sixth place. He also recorded a score of 8.725 on the still rings for a seventh-place finish. Golder was an assistant coach for the team.
Next up for Golder and Diaz-Luong is a trip to Ghent, Belgium, for the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships from Oct. 27-Nov. 5.
