ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan women's tennis coach Bitsy Ritt announced today (Thursday, Sept. 21) the hiring of former Wolverine netter Sarah Cyganiak as assistant coach for the program. Cyganiak replaces Terry Ann Zawacki, who was named head coach of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte women's tennis program.
A former Wolverine player (1994-97), Cyganiak holds the school record with 100 career singles victories (100-48 career mark). She led Michigan to its first and only Big Ten Conference Championship as a senior (1997), and proceeded to guide the squad to the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship and its inaugural appearance in the 16-team field at the NCAA Team Championships during that season. Cyganiak qualified for the NCAA Singles Championship twice (1995, 1997), and teamed with Sora Moon to compete in the NCAA Doubles Championship on two occasions (1996, 1997).
