ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Ohio State University won two of three doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead, then boasted straight-set victories by its top three singles players on the way to a 4-1 win over host Michigan in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Conference Women's Tennis Championship on Friday (April 28) at the Varsity Tennis Center. 
The No. 1-seeded Buckeyes jumped ahead 1-0 on the No. 8 Maize and Blue with doubles victories by No. 1 Kristi Dascoli and Monica Rincon, over the Wolverines' Brooke Hart and Jen Duprez (8-4), and No. 3 Michele Matko and Claudi Castro, over Erryn Weggenman and Joanne Musgrove (8-5). The lone Michigan doubles triumph came from Danielle Lund and Szandra Fuzesi besting Sadhaf Pervez and Laura Maloney (8-2).
The singles were dominated by Ohio State's Dascoli, Rincon and Matko, who won straight-set matches over Hart (6-3, 6-4), Lund (6-3, 6-1) and Fuzesi (6-1, 6-3), respectively. The Wolverines salvaged the No. 6 singles match with a 6-2, 6-0 victory by Weggenman over Taryn Bowen of Ohio State. No. 5 and No. 6 singles were abandoned after the Buckeyes earned the fourth team point.
The Big Ten regular-season champion Buckeyes advance to Saturday's semifinals against the winner of Friday's 2 p.m. quarterfinal between No. 4 seed Minnesota and No. 5 Iowa. The Wolverines concluded their season with a 10-12 record.
