ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 3-seeded Northwestern Wildcats quickly disposed of No. 6 seed Indiana in the Big Ten Conference Women's Tennis Championship quarterfinal round, posting a 4-0 victory Friday afternoon (April 28) at the Varsity Tennis Center. Northwestern will face No. 2 seed Illinois in tomorrow's semifinals at noon. 
Northwestern grabbed a 1-0 lead by claiming the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots (match at the top doubles spot was abandoned). The Wildcats' Lia Jackson and Marine Piriou claimed an 8-3 victory over Jessica Levin and Becky Wallihan at No. 2, and Shannon Duffy and Leigh Weinraub earned an 8-3 decision over Zahra Ahamed and Jennifer Hsia at No. 3.
In singles, the Wildcats claimed straight-set wins at the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 spots to close out the victory. Duffy posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Kelly Blanch at No. 2, Colleen Cheng won 6-1, 6-2 against Levin at No. 3 and Jackson earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 4. The final three matches remaining on the court were stopped after Northwestern secured the win and advancement to the semifinals.
