ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The sixth-seeded Indiana Hoosiers opened up action at the 2000 Big Ten Conference Women's Tennis Championship with a 4-0 victory against No. 11 seed Michigan State on Thursday afternoon (April 27) at the Varsity Tennis Center.
The Hoosiers earned the doubles point with an 8-0 victory by Jessica Levin and Becky Wallihan at the No. 2 spot. The Hoosiers received a forfeit at No. 3 to gain the necessary two doubles wins required to secure the team point.
Indiana received forfeits at No. 5 and No. 6 singles to take a 3-0 lead in the match. The Hoosiers finished off the victory with a 6-0, 6-1 win by Ann Poosuthasee at No. 4 singles.
Indiana advances to the Friday's (April 28) quarterfinal round to meet No. 3 seed Northwestern at 2 p.m.
