Wolverines Fall to Kentucky, Suffer First Dual Loss

U-M senior Danielle Lund (Leominster, Mass./Leominster HS), playing in her first singles match of the dual season after missing three months with a pulled stomach muscle, collected a 6-4, 6-4 win over Sarah Witten at No. 2 singles, while freshman Joanne Musgrove (LaSalle, Ontario/Sandwich HS) won 6-4, 7-6 (9-7 in the tie-breaker) over Amy Trefethen at the No. 4 spot.
Michigan's No. 3 doubles team of senior Erryn Weggenman (Portland, Ore./Jesuit HS) and junior Szandra Fuzesi (Budapest, Hungary/Balassi Balint Gimnazium) picked up the team's lone doubles victory, beating Trefethen and Lauren Rookledge by an 8-4 count.
The Wolverines (4-1) begin their Big Ten Conference schedule next week, hosting Northwestern (Saturday, Feb. 26) and Illinois (Sunday, Feb. 27). Both matches will begin at 11 a.m. at the Varsity Tennis Center.
