Burns Elected to USA Gymnastics Board of Directors

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- University of Michigan men's gymnastics assistant coach Mike Burns has been elected to the USA Gymnastics Board of Directors as one of two Men's Program National Membership Representatives.
In his fourth year as an assistant coach at Michigan, Burns will represent until 2004 the Men's Gymnastics Professional Members throughout the country with Southern Connecticut State University head coach Abie Grossfield.

Burns is a three-time National Assistant Coach of the Year, receiving one award while at the University of Iowa in 1989 and back-to-back honors at Michigan (1999, 2000).
The University of Michigan men's gymnastics team will begin its 2001 season at the Windy City Invitational on Saturday (Jan. 13) at 7 p.m. CST in Chicago, Ill. The Wolverines return to Ann Arbor one week later (Jan. 20) to open the home schedule against Ohio State University at Cliff Keen Arena.
