The U.S. National Team Developmental Program
The U.S. National Team Developmental Program brings together the United States' best 16- and 17-year old hockey players to practice and develop their skills. The Ann Arbor-based program routinely sees its players move on the collegiate and professional ranks. Current Wolverines Andy Hilbert and Mike Komisarek (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) each played for the NTDP prior to attending Michigan, while current NTDP players Dwight Helminen, Eric Nystrom and Jason Ryznar have all signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Wolverines beginning in the fall of 2001.
This season, the NTDP is playing 11 games against 10 different colleges around the country. Through nine games, the team has a record of 5-4-0 against collegiate teams, including a 6-4 win at Michigan State. Other colleges on the NTDP schedule this season include Bowdoin, Colby, Rochester Institute of Technology, Western Michigan, Fairfield, Holy Cross, Maine and Wayne State.
