Wolverines Drop Close Decision at No. 7 Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- By a mere eight points, the No. 12-ranked University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team was upended 125.5-117.5 by seventh-ranked Florida on Saturday (Nov. 4) at the Stephen C. O' Connell Center.
Freshman Jason Coben (Newtown Square, Pa./Maple Newtown HS) was the lone multiple winner for the Maize and Blue, taking the one-meter diving with a score of 323.10 and the three-meter competition with a score of 305.78.
Other first-place performances for the Wolverines were Chris Thompson (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg HS) in the 1,000-yard freestyle (8:59.35), Scott Werner (Haymarket, Va./Paul VI HS) in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:00.97), and Dan Ketchum (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore HS) with a time of 1:39.61 in the 200-yard freestyle. Garrett Mangieri (Closter, N.J./Mercersburg Academy, Pa.) tied for first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.11.
Michigan will have two weeks off before returning home to Canham Natatorium on Nov. 17 to take on the University of Texas.
