PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- University of Michigan football player Larry Foote (Detroit, Mich./Pershing HS) was named Big Ten Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his play in the Wolverines' 14-0 victory over Michigan State on Saturday (Oct. 21). Foote, a junior inside linebacker, collected a career-high 14 tackles (eight solo) against the Spartans as Michigan recorded its second straight shutout.
Among Foote's 14 stops were a pair of tackles for loss (for two yards), and he added a pass break-up. He tallied a tackle for loss during Michigan's goal line stand on second down that kept Michigan State out of the end zone in the third quarter. On the next play, Foote kept a loose ball in bounds to allow a Michigan fumble recovery that stopped the Spartans' 14-play drive.

Michigan (6-2, 4-1 Big Ten), ranked 15th in both the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today polls, is idle this weekend (Oct. 28) before returning to Big Ten action at Northwestern (Nov. 4). The Wolverines face the Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time on ABC Sports.
