ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's cross country team finished fifth overall with 144 points at the Wolverine Interregional Sunday morning (Oct. 17) at the University of Michigan Golf Course. Taking the top spot was No. 10 Washington with 44 points. No. 19 Nebraska (89 points) and No. 25 James Madison (112) rounded out the top three spots.
Junior Lisa Ouellet (Sudbury, Ontario/Lasalle SS) led the Wolverines as she placed eighth with a time of 17:57. Junior Katie Clifford (Grand Rapids, Mich./West Catholic HS) and senior Elizabeth Kampfe (Decatur, Ill./MacArthur HS) placed 19th and 20th, respectively, with times of 18:18 and 18:23. Senior Marcy Akard (Carmel, Ind./Cathedral HS) and Katie Ryan (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester Adams HS) rounded out the point scorers at 49th and 50th with times of 19:01 and 19:06, respectively.
The women will compete for the Big Ten title at the Big Ten Championships, hosted by Penn State Saturday, Oct. 30, at 10 a.m. in State College, Pa.
