Jansen, Renes Receive Academic All-America Honors

Renes, who was named to the academic all-district IV squad for the second straight season, earned second team All-Big Ten honors. A senior/junior, Renes has a 3.52 grade point in Literature, Science and the Arts.
In order to be eligible for Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete: (1) must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), (2) must be a starter or an important reserve and (3) must be at least in the second year at their current school. Freshmen are not eligible.
Notes: Michigan had three linemen -- Jansen, Renes and sophomore defensive end Jake Frysinger (Grosse Ile, Mich./Grosse Ile HS) on the 24-man All-District IV team, which included student-athletes from the states of Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Kentucky and Alabama ... All-district team members advanced to the GTE Academic All-America ballot ... Jansen and Frysinger (3.20 GPA in accounting) were first-time members to the all-district squad.
