Jansen Earns AFCA All-America Honors

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan senior offensive tackle Jon Jansen (Clawson, Mich./Clawson HS) was named to the Burger King Coaches' All-America Team announced by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) in Waco, Texas.
Jansen, only the ninth two-time captain in Michigan football history, was recently named Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year. Winner of the Hugh Rader Award as Michigan's top offensive lineman, Jansen was named to the All-Big Ten first team on both teams (coaches & media).

Jansen is slated to start his school-record 50th consecutive game when No. 15 Michigan (9-3) meets 11th-ranked Arkansas (9-2) in the CompUSA Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla. on Jan. 1, 1999. The game will be carried by ABC.
Notes: Jansen's selection marks the 45th time (by 40 players) that a Wolverine has been selected for the team, voted on by the members of the AFCA ... The coaches have been selecting a team since 1945 ... Members of the Burger King Coaches' All-America Team will be announced on the 1998 Home Depot College Football Awards Show on ESPN2 (live on Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. EST).
