Robert J. Brown was a center on the Michigan football squad from 1923 to 1925 and later served a Regent. As a senior, Brown earned All-America honors and was the captain of the 1925 football team that head coach Fielding H. Yost called the greatest team he ever coached. Brown later served Michigan Athletic Department by his involvement in recruiting of high school athletes to attend the Michigan during the 1930s and 1940s, along with several fundraising efforts. In 1966, Brown was elected a Regent of the University of Michigan and dutifully served in that capacity for eight years.
