University of Michigan Hall of Honor

Neil Snow
- Induction:
- 1990
- Class:
- 1901
It was the noted Walter Camp who said of Michigan's Neil Snow, "No college ever developed a better all-around athlete." As a 10-time letterwinner in football, track and baseball, it is difficult to argue with Camp's appraisal of the Detroit star. Snow was Michigan's second All-American, earning national accolades as a senior end on the 1901 national championship squad. On Feb. 17, 1960, nearly 59 years after he last played, Snow was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He was awarded two monograms in track, highlighted by his Big Ten high jump title in 1902. In addition to his duties on the cinders, Snow's talents were shared during the spring by the Wolverine baseball team. From 1899-1902, Snow and the Michigan "9" captured two Big Ten titles. Following his stellar career as an athlete, Snow was much sought after as a coach, turning down many lucrative offers from high schools and colleges to enter a business career. He was president, treasurer and general manager of the Detroit Twist Drill Company at the time of his death in 1914 at the age of 34.
