Katie McGregor was a three-time NCAA champion, claiming the 1998 NCAA cross country individual title and earning two NCAA titles during the 1998 NCAA Indoor Championships in the 3,000-meter run and the distance medley relay. She earned a total of eight NCAA All-America honors -- cross country (2), outdoor track (3) and indoor track (3). During her track and field career at Michigan, she helped U-M to four Big Ten titles, with back-to-back team titles during indoor and outdoor seasons in 1998 and 1999. She was a three-time All-Big Ten selection, earning first team honors in 1999 and second team honors in both 1998 and 1999. McGregor was named the Big Ten's Cross Country Athlete of the Year twice (1997, '98) as well as the Big Ten's Cross Country Freshman of the Year in 1995. She won two Big Ten cross country individual titles (1997, '98) and was the winner of the Honda Sports Award in 1998 and Michigan's Female Athlete of the Year in 1999.
Following her collegiate career, McGregor was a member of the U.S. world cross country team for six straight seasons (2003-08). At the 2002 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, she won bronze in the 10,000 meters, and she was fourth in the 10,000 meters at the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Trials. She won the 10,000 meters at the 2005 USA Outdoor Championships as well as back-to-back USA Women's 10K Championships (2005, '06). McGregor was inducted in the Michigan Women's Track and Field Hall of Fame in 2007.
