University of Michigan Hall of Honor

Julius Franks Jr.
- Induction:
- 1982
Dr. Julius Franks Jr. was one of the greatest guards in Wolverine history. A native of Hamtramck, he was the second African American in modern Michigan gridiron history to earn the All-America recognition. Fritz Crisler called him one of the hardest working players that he ever coached. A tremendous competitor, Franks was an equally diligent worker in the classroom. Franks received the All-Big Ten and All-America honors in 1942 as a football player at the guard position. The same year he was also President of the "M" Club.
