Jack Tompkins

Jack Tompkins was one of the most outstanding athletes in the history of Michigan. Tompkins holds the rare distinction in Michigan athletics as he was captain of two major varsity teams: baseball in 1931 and hockey in 1932. Jack earned All-America honors for hockey three times and is said to have played every minute of every hockey game for those three seasons. Jack also served as Student Director on the Board in Control of Athletics for three years, was a Director of the Student Council, and was elected to the Michigan Hockey Hall of Fame. Later Tompkins continued to be active in University affairs as President of the "M" Club and assisted Athletic Director Don Canham in organizing the prestigious Victors Club.
