Jack Blott

Jack Blott was an exceptional athlete at Michigan from 1922 to 1924, earning five varsity letters across two sports while in Ann Arbor. He was a three-year starting catcher on the baseball squad, which later led to a brief major league career with the Cincinnati Reds. Blott was a standout on Fielding Yost’s football squad, earning All-America honors as a center in 1923. He joined the Michigan football coaching staff as an assistant in 1924 and remained in that capacity until 1934. After working for the Ford Motor Company, Blott rejoined the Wolverine staff as line coach in 1946. During his coaching tenures, Blott helped to develop such All-America centers as Maynard Morrison and Chuck Bernard. Blott became manager of Michigan's golf course and ice rink in 1959 and served in that capacity until his death in 1964.
