On Feb. 20, 2005 the University of Michigan retired Glen Rice’s No. 41 jersey. A native of Flint, Michigan, Rice became the most prolific scorer in Michigan history. He led the Wolverines to the 1989 NCAA championship while setting a tournament record of 184 points in six games. He was named the NCAA tournament’s Most Outstanding Player and earned All-America honors. In 1988 and 1989, Rice also won the Big Ten Conference scoring title and was named to the All-Big Ten team. After his playing days with at U-M, Rice was the number four overall pick by the Miami Heat in the 1989 NBA Draft and was named to the All-NBA Rookie Team second team. He went on to a decorated career in the NBA with several teams and was an integral part of the Los Angeles Lakers’ 2000 NBA championship squad. Photo Gallery
