An end, Edward Frutig teamed with triple-threat halfback and Heisman winner Tom Harmon to become one of the most effective offensive threats in Michigan football history. Frutig, a steady player his first two varsity seasons, exploded in 1940 to lead the Wolverines in both pass receptions and pass reception yardage.
