One of the most electrifying players in college football history, Desmond Howard became the first receiver in Big Ten history to lead the conference in scoring (90 points).  He set or tied five NCAA records and 12 single-season Michigan records. He set standards for most points scored (138), most touchdowns (23), and most consecutive games with a scoring catch (19). In 1991, he won the Heisman Trophy by the second-largest margin of victory in the award’s history.  After graduating, Howard entered the NFL as a first-round selection and went on to an 11-year career, a highlight being voted MVP of Super Bowl XXXI while with the Green Bay Packers. He later played for the Detroit Lions and after retiring from the NFL began a sports broadcasting career.
