Fiesta Bowl Information; How We Got Here

The No. 2-ranked Michigan Wolverines will be making its second consecutive appearance in the College Football Playoff, facing third-ranked TCU in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale. This will be the first-ever match-up between U-M and TCU, and it will be the 50th bowl game in the 143-year history of the Michigan Football program.

The Michigan ticket allotment for the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Ariz., is sold out. Football season ticket holders and athletic donors had the opportunity to pre-request tickets and will be notified of their status by Monday, Dec. 5. For information on purchasing tickets directly from the bowl, please visit fiestabowl.org.
Due to overwhelming demand, Michigan Football has reached the maximum number of 2023 football season ticket deposits that we are able to accommodate. As a result, new season tickets for the 2023 season are no longer available at this time.
Michigan Athletics may make additional 2023 season ticket deposits available after current season ticket holders have had the chance to renew their season tickets in February.

GAME 13: vs. PURDUE, W 43-22

The No. 2-ranked University of Michigan football team reached 13 wins for the first time in program history, capturing its second consecutive Big Ten Championship with a 43-22 victory over Purdue at Lucas Oil Stadium on Dec. 3. Running back Donovan Edwards did the heavy lifting for the offensive attack, rushing for 185 yards and a touchdown on his way to earning the game's Most Valuable Player honor. Quarterback J.J. McCarthy cashed in three touchdowns to three different receivers for 161 yards on the night, and WR Ronnie Bell led five receivers with five receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown.

GAME 12: at OHIO STATE, W 45-23

Quarterback J.J. McCarthy accounted for a career-high four touchdowns as big plays on offense helped the No. 3-ranked Michigan football team defeat rival No. 2 Ohio State, 45-23, and capture its second straight Big Ten East title on Nov. 26 at Ohio Stadium. It was U-M's first road win in the series since 2000. In the second half, the Wolverines outscored Ohio State 28-3 and out-rushed the Buckeyes 242-19. McCarthy became the first U-M in the history of the rivalry with three touchdown passes of 45-plus yards in the same matchup.

GAME 11: vs ILLINOIS, W 19-17

The Wolverines ended senior day with a dramatic finish as kicker Jake Moody converted on his first career game-winning kick to edge out a victory in the game's final seconds. With 2:15 remaining and down by one, Michigan took over on its own 48-yard line, and quarterback J.J. McCarthy engineered the game-winning drive with three completions including a key fourth down conversion throw to Isaiah Gash.

GAME 10: vs NEBRASKA, W 34-3

The University of Michigan football team reached the 10-0 mark for the first time since 2006, battling the elements in a 34-3 win that marked the 50th Big Ten win at U-M for head coach Jim Harbaugh. Michigan put points on the board on three of its first five possessions to grab an early lead. Running back Blake Corum passed the 100-yard rushing mark in the first half and finished with 162 yards and one score. Michigan dominated in the run game, going for 264 yards behind Corum and a career-best 68 yards from CJ Stokes.

GAME 9: at RUTGERS, W 52-17

Facing a halftime deficit for the first time this season, the Wolverines erupted in the second half to blow out Rutgers in a night game at Piscataway. The defense stepped up with three third-quarter interceptions, leading to 21 Wolverine points in the span of 1:42 of game time. That stretch erased the team's three-point halftime deficit and served as the springboard for a 38-point second half for Michigan's offense, paired with a second-half shutout for the defense. Linebacker Michael Barrett, who corralled his first two career interceptions on back-to-back Rutgers plays, returned the second for a 31-yard pick-six.

GAME 8: vs MICHIGAN STATE, W 29-7

A stifling Michigan defense limited the Spartans to 37 rushing yards on 23 attempts and shut MSU out in the second half as the Wolverines reclaimed the Paul Bunyan Trophy with a win over their in-state rival. It was another packed environment with attendance at 111,083 for the night kick at Michigan Stadium. Scoring efforts were led by kicker Jake Moody, who converted 5-of-5 field goals, including a career-long 54-yarder in the fourth quarter.

GAME 7: vs PENN STATE, W 41-17

In a division showdown against a top-10 opponent, the Wolverines scored 25 unanswered points in a second-half surge to earn a decisive 41-7 win against No. 10 Penn State at Michigan Stadium. The Wolverines piled up 418 rushing yards on the Nittany Lions. Running back Donovan Edwards posted career highs in every category, rushing for 173 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries while Blake Corum carried the ball 28 times for 166 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback J.J. McCarthy added an efficient 17-of-24 passing line for 145 yards.

GAME 6: at INDIANA, W 31-10

The Wolverines improved to 2-0 in conference games with a second consecutive Big Ten road win at Indiana. Michigan scored three second-half touchdowns and the defense forced Indiana to punt on all five of its possessions after the break, improving U-M to 6-0 on the season. Michigan totaled 469 yards of offense (304 passing, 165 rushing) and leaned towards the pass in quarterback J.J. McCarthy's first career 300-yard game. McCarthy was 28-for-36 passing for 304 yards and running back Blake Corum had a team-best 124 yards rushing on 25 carries.

GAME 5: at IOWA, W 27-14

In its first road test of the season, the Michigan football team jumped out to a first-half lead and held on strong for a win at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, the program's first since a 2005 overtime victory. The Wolverines' top-ranked scoring offense went head-to-head with Iowa's No. 1 scoring defense and U-M showed a well-balanced attack to find success, registering 327 total yards (155 passing, 172 rushing). The Wolverine defense dominated the Hawkeyes on the ground, allowing just 35 yards -- the third instance in five games that the Michigan defense had held a team under 100 yards on the ground.

GAME 4: vs MARYLAND, W 34-27

It was a homecoming win for the Wolverines against the Terrapins after Michigan posted a 17-point fourth quarter in its Big Ten opener. The game was the final of a four-game home stand that the Wolverines had scheduled to begin the year. U-M totaled 463 total yards of offense (243 rushing, 220 passing), the fourth consecutive game with 400-plus yards of total offense to begin the year. Running back Blake Corum recorded career highs with 30 carries and 243 rushing yards.

GAME 3: vs UCONN, W 59-0

Michigan closed out its non-conference schedule with an emphatic 59-0 shutout victory over Connecticut at Michigan Stadium. It marked another dominant performance from the defense, which allowed just 110 total yards after coming into this week ranked 13th in the country in total defense (236 yards per game). The game was Michigan's first shutout since 2019's 52-0 victory over Rutgers. The Wolverines thoroughly controlled all facets of the contest on the afternoon, as the offense totaled 467 yards overall -- 273 in the air and 192 on the ground. In addition to the defense's dominance, A.J. Henning scored on a 61-yard first-half punt return.

GAME 2: vs. HAWAI'I, W 56-10

The Maize and Blue rolled up 588 yards of total offense in an all-around dominant display in front of a night-game crowd of 110,012 at Michigan Stadium. The Wolverines routed the Rainbow Warriors in quarterback J.J. McCarthy's first career start. McCarthy completed 92 percent (11-of-12) of his passes for 229 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Michigan offense, while Hawai'i native Roman Wilson provided an offensive punch with two touchdowns, one receiving and one rushing, and 63 all-purpose yards.

GAME 1: vs. Colorado State, W 51-7

The University of Michigan football team started the 2022 campaign firing on all cylinders, jumping ahead early and rolling to a 51-7 romp of Colorado State in the season opener. The Wolverines totaled 440 total yards of offense on the day (234 rushing, 206 passing) while holding the Rams to just 205 total yards. Michigan lifted the lid on the scoring for the season with a 61-yard pass and catch from Cade McNamara to Roman Wilson at the 9:49 mark of the first quarter and the team never looked back.
